Hello again and welcome to the latest entry in our many years of Games of the Week series. If you are looking for the best 5 games that are available in the iPhone, iPad or Android stores this week, you have landed just at the right time in the right place.
With this article we bypass the droves of subscription services (Apple Arcade, Google Play Pass, GameClub, Hatch, Playond, etc.), which were introduced on mobile platforms, and also take into account things like Steam Link or Google Stadia's streaming on handheld Allow devices. This means that our list is a finely curated list of brilliant, fresh title that you can download and play without subscribing to or installing a third-party initiative. Of course there are some great games for these services, but we focus on the things you can just download.
This week there was a surprising number of classic RPG style games, including two of massive IPs. There was also a charming, soothing title in the tower defense and a fantastic scientific simulation game.
Remember if you want to review some of our previous selections, you can do so at any time in our Games of the Week Hub. This is a great way to find games to fill in empty space on your phone. Or if you like your messages in small pieces that are delivered directly on your palm, you may follow us on Twitter.

1 Lego Legacy: Heroes Unboxed
Developer: Gameloft available to: iOS + Android Genre: RPG Learn more about Lego Legacy: Heroes Unboxed
We have seen Lego Legacy: Heroes Unboxed since it came to the market at the end of last year. It is an interesting idea: a merger of heroes who collect role games with the legendary Lego brand.
How turns out, it actually works very well. There is a decent selection of minifigures to collect, and the game does not hesitate to throw them directly into the action to demonstrate that the classic party-counter-party fight is possible from the beginning.
You can Lego Legacy: Heroes Unboxed on both download the App Store, and Google Play.
2 Knights
Available to: iOS + Android Genre: Action, RPG Learn more about Knighthood
Next, it's another role-playing game. This time it is the latest offer of King, Knighthood, which is a very stylish immersion in an optimized adventure role-playing game.
It is optimized in the way you can imagine. In contrast to the Bravely series, there is no attempt to reduce the level of levels, but the game focuses almost exclusively on the ARPG-like grind, hitting sharp things against enemies until they fall over ... but wait.
Everything is done in a really entertaining way. Just tap (or delete) on the screen to attack while consuming special movements and choosing carefully, in which order you want to defeat enemies. The story may have been reduced, but there is a design for weapons and equipment upgrades - even so much that the appearance of their character changes with every equipment change.
You can access Knighthood on the App Store, or Google Play.
3 dragon quest of the stars
Publisher: Square ENIX available to: iOS + Android Genre: RPG Learn more about Dragon Quest of the Stars
And to finish the RPG trilogy for this week, we have a mobile trip for the long-standing Dragon Quest series in Dragon Quest of the Stars - a named name.
For the description of this article I will refer you to Daves recent post about it as a great role-playing game with an odd subscription option, in which he says:
Dragon Quest of the stars is a pretty typical approach to the Gacha-RPG formula, but with an incredible amount of polish and the expected amount of Dragon Quest / Akira Toriyama Charm. Everything in the Dragon Quest Universe is sweet and adorable in the strangest way, partly thanks to Akira Toriyama's works of art, and it's hard not to be involved in everything: the story, the characters you meet, the places to which one Go, and although DQS is clearly a reduced Dragon Quest experience, it will make you a lot of the same experience.
You can download Dragon Quest of the Stars at Google Play, or you can download it on the App Store
4 Eris Forest
Available to: iOS + Android Genre: Tower Defense Learn more about Eri's Forest
The Tower Defense genre is incredibly worn these days. So if a game comes and great work does, it really falls up. Eri's Forest is a brilliant little tower defense, and lies at the high care invested in design and surroundings.
They take over the role of a forest guards and use Mana to achieve growth on trees attacked by thought-controlled forest animals. Since your battlefield is on a vertical surface, there are many clever possibilities as Eris Forest changes the traditional formula - for example, the second tower, which you unlock, drops fluid from the bark of the tree that slows down creatures when attacking. Not only that, but you, the battlefield, wrap themselves literally around the tree - they have to turn around him to defend him efficiently. It is also very nice and the voice output is anything but offensive.
You can download Eri's forest from Google Play, alternatively grab it to the AppStore.
5 DISH LIFE: The game
Available to: iOS + Android Genre: Simulation, Strategy Learn more about Dish Life: The Game
Learning Simulation Dish Life: The game makes much more fun than the title suggests. In it, you take the role of a stem cell researcher, do tasks and nursing and developing stem cells. It is a clever version of the educational game that combines elements of Tamagotchi and Management while actually teaching about science, politics and routine of the job.
And it tut teach you, even when I just came through the tutorial, I had gently taught the terminology for the cells about what they eat and how they change and develop. Very interesting and fun to play.
You can download Dish Life: The Game at the App Store, as well as Google Play.
