Positive corona test: Kendricks can not start

In the afternoon (local time), the Australian Association gave first all-clear. Three athletes have been seen the risk of direct infection, all three subsequently delivered a negative PCR test. For the time being, the three those affected remain in a devoted isolation in which they are allowed to train individually. They will be further tested and should participate in the competitions as planned. The remaining teammates have left the isolation.

The reason for the "Precaution" is "the notification of a Corona case in a member of the US team. The Australians did not go closer to connections. "Our strict measures continue to keep the team safe," said Australia's Chef de Mission Ian Chesterman: "We want every Australian athlete to live in a position to live his Olympic dream."

Like the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) has announced via Twitter, Kendricks is in a quarantine hotel. According to his father, the 28-year-old has no symptoms. "Sam is an incredibly successful member of the US team. We will miss him very much here," wrote the USOPC: "From respect for his privacy, we can not give any further information at the present time."

Kendricks had recovered in 2019 in Doha and 2017 in London World Cup gold and was in Tokyo next to world record holder Armand Duplis (Sweden) as one of the top favorites on the Olympic victory. The final takes place on 3 August (12:20 am MESZ). Kendricks had bronze in Rio Bronze in 2016.
