What is the prerequisite? The use of a M.2 SSD with the PS5 requires effective heat dissipation with a cooling structure. Either you buy a M2 SSD, which has already installed a cooling module (so-called heatsink) or you buys a corresponding cooling module. But there are restrictions in height.

How much memory may the SSD have a maximum of? The SSD may be maximum 4 TB. If the SSD is greater, the memory is not recognized.

What dimensions may the SSD have? The SSD must not be greater than 22 mm. Here you have to be careful not to buy SSD, which is bigger. The SSD may not be longer than 110 mm.

Which SSDs are supported? The PS5 supports M.2 SSDs with sizes 2230, 2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110. These numbers describe the form factor of the SSD. These numbers are usually found on any packaging of an SSD.

The first two numbers (22) stands for the width and the remaining numbers for the length of the SSD in milimeters. So you can install a maximum of an SSD with 110 mm in length.

It can not immediately expand all players to expand their PS5 memory

Can I upgrade my SSD immediately? No, because so far the update is only for beta users. If you do not install beta updates, you will not come in the possibility of upgrading.

When will the update appear? Usually the official updates 4 - 6 weeks after the beta update - depending on how well the feedback is the tester. In the best case, you can expand your PS5 SSD at the end of August or in September.
