Blizzard's MOBA Heroes of the Storm new content development is complete. From now on, we will provide only the support we need
Blizzard Entertainment announced on July 8 that there are currently no plans to add new content for the MOBA Heroes of the Storm that is being offered and operated for PCs. From now on, it is said that only necessary support will be provided, and the development of this work is virtually finished.
Heroes of the Storm is a MOBA (Massive Online Battle Arena) work that is being offered for PC for free-to-play. In a 5v5 team battle, the player controls the hero to fight against the enemy team and aim to attack the opponent's base. Among the games of the same genre, we adopted relatively simple rules. Another feature is that Blizzard characters such as Overwatch, Diablo, Warcraft, and StarCraft appear as heroes.
With this announcement, Blizzard will provide the same support for this work, which is celebrating its 7th anniversary this year, as well as long-running titles such as StarCraft and StarCraft II. Specifically, the Ranked mode season, hero rotation will continue, and in-game shops will be available. However, as mentioned above, no new sales content will be added.
In addition, for patches to be distributed in the future, client maintenance and bug fixes will be the main focus. It seems that balance adjustment will be done only when it is deemed necessary. In other words, this work will continue to be playable, but only minimal support will be provided.
In this work, it was announced that the development scale will be reduced at the end of 2018. At that time, Blizzard had a lot of titles in operation and under development, and it required the staff to make ends meet. Therefore, the staff of this work was transferred to another project. At the same time, the end of the official esports competition has also been announced. Since then, new content has been added and balance adjustments have been made, but the frequency of distribution has declined. And it came to this announcement.
Heroes of the Storm is now available for PC (Battle.net) for free-to-play.
